OMONIA

The composers Roderik de Man and Arnoud Noordegraaf have written one-man-art musictheatre works for Jorge Isaac. OMONIA is a multilingual unification of sound and visual media through which the spectator is drawn to observe in various layers.

Interior 123

Stel je voor: een grenzeloze ervaring voor het gehoor, het zicht, de reuk, de tast. Je beweegt nauwelijks en toch ga je van kamer naar kamer. Alleen de wonderlijke combinatie van Florian Magnus Maier's muziek, Marcel Wierckx’s virtual reality creatie, de ruimten van het Rembrandthuis, de schilderijen van Joan Miróen de klankkleur van Black Pencil maken dit mogelijk. Een installatie bijvoorbeeld voor na een concert, op een festival, of in een museum.
Totaliter Aliter

In Totaliter Aliter maken Ensemble Black Pencil en het Nationaal Vrouwen Jeugdkoor een retourtje naar het hiernamaals. Op het hoofdmenu staat de gelijknamige compositie van de Nederlandse componist Peter Vigh, die geïnspireerd was door het boek ‘Eindeloos Bewustzijn’ van Pim van Lommel. De gloednieuwe muziek wordt omlijst door muzikale visioenen van Hildegard von Bingen en liederen uit Cantigas de Santa Maria.
Chanson De Geste

La Volta

Inspired by the famous 'First Book of Consort Lessons' (Thomas Morley, 1599). It includes early music works by Dowland, Byrd, Morley, Gibbons oa, as well as contemporary works specially written for this project by Klaas de Vries, David Dramm, Florian Maier, Oene van Geel, Roderik de Man.

Beauty in movement, beauty in stillness. The Elizabethan period fits Black Pencil like a glove: a paradise of experimentation for sound colour and tempo variation. This rich wealth of dances is complemented by the exuberant music of Vivaldi and Bach’s Kunst der Fuge.

Sit Fast

Een repeterende basis, een cantus firmus als fundament voor een zich in vrijheid ontwikkelend muziekstuk. Dit principe kent grote successen in hedendaagse muziek, maar heeft zijn wortels in een rijke historie. Black Pencil smeedt de mooiste en meest virtuoze stukken uit renaissance en barok samen met het heden: de puls van Padding en Purcell. De luisteraar, op het puntje van zijn stoel: uit welke periode komt dit hypnotiserende werk?

The programme Buffoni! draws its inspiration from the Commedia dell’Arte. The new compositions are connected to each other by Interludes and own arrangements of master works inspired by Commedia dell’Arte, such as Ouverture Burlesque by Telemann and Suite italienne by Stravinsky a.o.
